AK31 Review

---------- CUT ------------
While there were speculations about an immature chipset and necessary changes in the resistor configuration of the mainboard, Shuttle completely revamped the AK31 by changing the trace layout from ECC DDR support to standard 64 bit DDR in the second revision of the board. The result beats any

what does this mean? does it mean that it won't support REGISTERED ECC DDR DIMMS? Vague..

That means MS from Lost Circuits has no clue what the h*ll he is talking about when it comes to the finer technical details.

For someone directly involved into mainboard design, his explanations are good for a long and hard laugh - for everyone else, it's just plain confusing.

Layout revamped for 64-bit DDR, gosh, what a huge pile of BS. Doing ECC is just EIGHT traces more toward the DRAM slots - and on the chipset and RAM slots, they're positioned in a way that makes routing them no harder than the remaining 64 data lines.
