Aiwa Receiver speaker balance/no remote problem

So I received the Aiwa AV-D58 as a present:

Unfortunately when I opened the back of the remote, one of the batteries had exploded and corroded all over the springs. The main problem (besides getting up to change the volume) is that sound comes out of the center speaker only, and I can faintly hear it on the other speakers. It seems the button to balance the speakers is on the remote...which I cant find anywhere on the internet! Suggestions?

did you try new batteries in the remote?
use a pencil eraser to clean away some of the battery gunk

You should be able to just clean off the springs and still use it. If you want to know how to adjust the levels with the remote, download the manual here and see pg. 17.
