i noticed this in the lates Fry's ad. It's the second generation of Aiwa's MP3 player. my friend paid $275 for this and it's very nice. the faceplate folds down and hides itself. It's a very nice deck.. but the buttons are a bit small. here's the ad:

http://adserver1.harvestadsdepot.com/myocads/0004937330/0004937330.shtml#

check the second to last row.

$199 with free install.. can't beat that compared to $279 at crutchfield.com with no install.

I'm not sure if this Aiwa is a big improvement over the Aiwa CDC-MP3 or not? (2) = revision 2?

However, the original CDC-MP3 had very poor reviews - if you are in the market for an in-car MP3 HU go here to Highway MP3 to read the reviews etc - there is also a message board for discussion of the players too ;)

$199 for an MP3 capable HU with fitting is a good price indeed - but just ensure the performance lives up to your expectations :)

For some reason, Best Buy in Milpitas is clearance out this model (Aiwa cdc-mp32) for $249. I thought this is the new model and why are they on clearance. I asked the worker and he said either they are discontinued or new model is coming out. Anyone want to comment on that?

I own this unit and can tell anyone wholeheartedly, DO NOT BUY IT. It sounds great and has some power, but... It appears to have virtually no buffer, and the mechanism is extremely sensitive to disruption, including lateral acceleration from turning--many pauses in the music. Any interruption in power causes it to reset and start the current song from the beginning--short trips=same song played repeatedly. The flip-face (nice feature!) stopped functioning for awhile, and it appears to have SCRATCHED A DISK--thankfully just a cdr, but still.
