AIW8500 question

I have the card in a slot A 800 system, older Ebox motherboard, and the picture shakes and is jagged.
I traded the video card with the same card out of another system and the card is good.
I am thinking the epox board might not give it enough power.
I also noticed that there appears to be a power connector on the video card for a floppy style power cord.
Anyone know about this connector or my problem?

Hi I am having a similar problem, I recently purchased an ATI AIW 8500 128mb.

After I installed the card, i would not get a picture at all i think it is because my system is old.

It is an Abit BE6-2 with a slocket celeron 900. I hope there are no incompatibilities.

I hope it is just a power suplly issue.

That extra connector is for supplying power to the onboard FireWire. As long as you're not using the firewire port, you should be good whether or not you decide to power the connector (I don't use any FW devices so I leave it unpowered).

But how "shaky" is the picture? Is this with any of the input types? And since you suspect a power problem, how "loaded" is your system and what's your PSU rated for?
