AIW X1900 vs. 6800nu

Someone has a PC with a nVidia 6800nu (128mb GDDR1) plus separate TV Tuner card. How much of a gaming upgrade would an ATI All-In-Wonder X1900 (256mb GDDR3) be? And how is this nice all-purpose card selling at some places for ~$240ish or less when its big brother X1900 XT is $100 more?

Huge over the 6800NU. Oustanding, you'll be blown away by all the stuff you can turn on.

Best bet is the x1900xt for $280 after rebate if you are looking at $240.

Personally I dislike the AIW series after owning 3 of them, I much prefer MCE and a PVR150, but to each their own 🙂

the only problem is the x1900 aiw is basically a x1900xl (though they didnt make one of these.) Much lower clocked core and mem speeds and without serious voltage it wont reach xt speeds (the cores are all speed binned as non candidates for x1900xt). Over a 6800ultra it is waaaaay better though. If you arnt into overclocking the x1800xt 256mb might be a better purchase. just read some reviews and come up with an informed decision.

He's got a 6800 non ultra...so it's waaaay better x 2 😉 . The x1900 is just slow because it's clock speeds are way lower than the xt, but asside clock speeds and 256mb less ram, it has all the features and pipes of the xt. Same core too I think, so overclocking should bring a lot of performance. Too bad none of the reviews on the net of this card really has overclocking in them.

should be night and day, i went from 6800 NU oc'ed to stock x1900xt and i used to get 30fps at source @ 12x10 now i get 100+fps @ 16x10

AIW x1900 != x1900xt. Not even close.

But still, the upgrade should be like night and day.

If you can afford to go x1900xt and don't need the AIW functions, I'd say go for that instead. But eh, if you got in on that $150 deal for the x1900, then geebus don't look back!
