AIW radeon and mpeg2

Ok, I am a newbie with vivo and video editing. I want to make some videos to put on cd for family(from camcorder). But The way the AIW recorder works is either small mpeg1 or godd size mpeg2. As for playing the mpeg2 files, I am not sure members of my family have the software to play them on(unless older WMP will play it) so I wanted some advice on recording from camcorder to file and put on cd.
And that ulead video studio 5 really sucks. I downloaded a trial version of media studio pro 6, but can not get it to capture from my composite camcorder, but the tv tuner comes up fine.
Thanks for any advice guys and gals.

Your family needs a software/hardware DVD decoder(installs the necessary codecs for playing back mpeg-2 video streams) The AIW can encode a variety of formats mpeg 1/2 and AVI. Here is a good site with VCD/SVCD creation. VCD help. The ATI digital VCR works good for me, you likely just need to pick the proper video source to capture from your composite-in, if you have everything set up correctly. Try picking the composite source in the ATI application prior to using your other capture application.
