Just wondering if this card can be used with a dishnetwork system? Can or should it be hooked up directly off the satellite or does it have to be hooked up through a receiver? Seems to me that if it has to go through the receiver, you wouldn't be able to change the channels except through the receiver itself. I'm just not sure if it would work directly off the satellite or not. I'm expecting my card sometime next week and just wanted to run all my wiring before it got here. Thanks for any suggestions.

it should be like digital cable

it will have to use the reciever

set the card to channel 3 and use the reciever to change channels

try showshifter for recording

dont forget to set reciever to channel to 3

That's kind of what I figured. Just wanted confirmation. Wish I had cable to hook up to this thing. Only thing bad about living in the country...can't get cable way the hell out here. But, I've got dsl...go figure. I will try showshifter although I've never heard of it. And I won't forget to set the card to channel 3 :) Thanks for the info.

If you want (much) better quality from your satilite, run a composite RCA cable or S-Video cable from the back of your satilite reciever into the AIW. I have a Hughes DirecTV reciever and a Pinnacle PCTV PCI (now a nvidia geforce4 ti4200 card with VIVO), and I saw a huge difference in picture quality.

Thanks Josh. The receiver that I'm having to use doesn't have composite video but does have s-video so I'm gonna use that. The only problem I'm having with this now is that I won't be able to change the channel on that receiver when I'm recording something to my hdd. Oh well, really looking forward to getting this card anyway.
