I was planning on getting the ATI AIW-9800 Pro, however when I went to CompUSA
I noticed that they are still selling the 9600 Pro. There is a $200 price difference and
I take it that the 9600 is not as fast. Is that the only difference?

Now my question, can you use the 9600 to convert VHS to DVD too? Is the software
included?

-Glenn

Ps. I was looking at ebay for a bargain on the AIW-9800 Pro and to my surprise some people
are bidding on prices that are higher than buying it from mail order!!!

Yes the software should be included, and yes the only difference is performance in speeds etc.

Actually, there are some significant differences between those cards.

AIW 9600 pro: Dual VGA (no DVI) FM stereo tuner, RW1(plus RW2 with included coupon), no native component TV output (can get the adaptor from ATI) comes with HL2 coupon
AIW 9800 pro: Single DVI(VGA with the included adaptor)no FM tuner, native component output, RW1

Go check the ATI site for the comparison chart.

rbV5:

Thanks for the link and wasn't aware the DVI port was not included on the 9600 Pro!
And no VGA on the 9800 Pro! Still pricey...I saw a BRAND NEW Dimension 8300 and it
went for $610 (P4 - 2.6GHz with 120Gb drive & 512Mb of memory) and it INCLUDES a
Radeon 9800 Pro! So how can the AIW-9800 Pro going for $375???

the regular 9800 pro retails @ ~$350 so there is no surprise that the AIW would go for $375

VGA is supported using the included adaptor, its the same configuration as the vast majority of AIW Radeon cards. The AIW card is a great value over the pro card if you don't need dual head.

Well I do have a flat panel display, so the DVI connector is good enough for me.
I still wonder if that will result in FASTER output or what?
