My AIW 9700 Pro experiences screen strobing at 60Hz (necessary for TV in the USA). This manifests as wavy lines running across the screen.
After investigation I discovered my particular 350W power supply was not up to the job!
I tried a solution I read somewhere, which is to detach the auxilliary molex power cable running to the AIW 9700 after the machine has booted. This solution worked immediately (much to my surprise) so I assume the EPOX 8RDA+ motherboard was able to make enough (stable) power to do the job. However this seems a rather questionable solution.
After trying various RF chokes taken off old motherboards, without much success, I found that a couple of high performance 220uF, 16V electrolytic capacitors (also taken off old motherboards) did the trick perfectly.
These capacitors were wired from black-to-yellow, and black-to-red, situated just ahead of the connector to the AIW 9700 Pro. In each case the negative contact on the capacitor is wired to black. In particular (for my supply) I found the red power line (5V) was the primary culprit rather than the yellow power line (12V).
I later tried switching to a reputable 430W power supply, and this too fixed the problem. So in conclusion, people with cheap or under-rated power supplies may find the AIW 9700 Pro is going to suffer.
Hope this helps someone!
