Is anyone here into Airsoft? I just started getting into this, and it so so much fun. I played it for the second time this weekend. Since I don't have my own gun yet, I had to borrow my roommate's uzi, but I am going to be buying an H&K G3-SG1 pretty soon.....sweet gun.

I was just wondering if anyone else was into this, maybe if you're in the KC area you could join us for a weekend skirmish. :D

i got a p90, my $369 worth of upgrades and parts are to arrive today(when theres actually daylight) from hong kong. Aegs are so fun to play with, The sg-1 is a good sniper platform, but can be problematic if you plan cqb with it.

Holy crap! That's a whole lot of money for this...

You don't know the half of it! Some of those guns sell for four digit numbers!!! I have been thinking of buying something in the AEG list.. a P90 or an M-16 copy. Maybe an MP5, or a gas operated MP5K. I have a couple of pistols right now, just springers but want to upgrade to gas here pretty soon. By the way anyone interested needs to check out Redwolf, this is one of the best web sites I've found.:)

I have a UHC M9 heavyweight springer, and a UHC lightweight USP springer as well. I can't afford much more (just bought a UHC MP5SD3 - generally regarded as one of the best cheap guns for a newbie), but I'm starting to look at a $200-ish TM AEG....it's not that easy to find, though - heh

I play with my brother around our yard - he's pretty good for a 9yo..anyways, I had a few friends over once (at the time, all I had were the 2 spring handguns), so we took turns, 1 on 1. One of them bought an MP5SD3, and the other two are looking at buying a gun in the near future, so hopefully I'll have a few more guys to play with.

If there's anybody in north central FL area (Gainesville) who would like to get together and shoot each other, let me know :D

There's no way I could compete against any "real" airsofter, but I've only spent $120-ish total on airsoft-related stuff ($40 for the 2 handguns, $50-ish for the MP5, $12 for a thigh holster, and I bought a replica kevlar helmet just for the heck of it :D). I would like to get an AEG...but I can't really afford to have more than one hobby.. :(

Word from the wise (about airsoft anyway ;) the SG1 takes a TON of work and I really don't think you could pick a worse gun for a beginner. They are extremely problematic, only thing worse is the SIG series. The SG1's have extensive body flex, lots of squeaking, the dreaded piston suck because of the long barrel (lower velocity), and a host of other problems. I mean it'd be ok, but to really get it to perform great it takes a lot of work. Kaiser made some excellent posts about the SG1 and makes a kick ass platform out of it, unfortunately the thread was about 3 pages and 20 posts of fixes.

For a beginner I think the MP5A4 or M4A1 (tokyo marui) are your best bets. They are extremely user friendly and very little to go wrong externally (no wobbles to fix like on the m16's, no stocks to fix like on the mp5a5). They are fool proof. Not saying the other guns are bad, they are great, it's just those 2 are as basic and easy to use as you can get. The M4 with the eg1000 literally pisses bb's.

For sheer fun get a full auto gas blow back like the MP5k from maruzen. It's my next item. GBBs are so much cooler, but have a lot more problems :(

KC, ha. Looking for someone...how unfreakin fair. You live right next to Red Barron and a HUGE airsoft community, probably the largest in the US (sacramento has a huge group as well). Go to airsoftzone.com and you should be able to find tons of folks in the KC area.

Redwolf is an OK retailler. DEN and Wargamers are the cheapest and best HK based guys. Airsoft extreme in the US is my local favorite. Mickey and Thumper deserve major props for their help in the airsoft community.

I think the guy was saying it was $369 in parts, not for the actual p90. I assume metal parts, Red dot scope, hi cap mag, rails, etc. That's alot to spend though :)

I'm probably going to start a team in the north central FL area (Gainesville)..if anybody is interested, let me know. We won't be anything fancy, though - a friend of mine just bought a UHC MP5SD3, and I have 3 guns total, all springers (M9, USP, MP5SD3). I have two more friends who want to buy a gun, so I'll probably have a four-man all springer team...lol :D

How much does airsoft hurt compared to paintball? More or less? Or the same?

I haven't been hit by a "real" (i.e. AEG or GBB - electric gun or gas blowback), but from what I hear, it's more of a sting than a bruising hit. The BBs are much smaller than paintballs, and weigh a lot less. Just hope some moron with a 450fps sniper rifle doesn't shoot you in the neck from 8 feet..that would hurt. Typically, rules are set out, such as high-power sniper rifles not shooting someone within x distance, or no shots within 5 feet..all I have are spring powered guns, though - unless they're close, there isn't really any pain.
