Airport with a PC wireless network

I have a bit of a tricky problem here:
I have a 2wire wireless router and I want to connect to it via a OS9 mac using airport. I have installed the 2.02 version airport, which is the lastest for os9 i believe, and I can not get it to find the network. I know that these componats are compatible, i just cannot get it to work. I have tried putting the wireless router next to the computer, so signal strenght is not an issue. If anyone has any insight into this, please respond, as I have run out of ideas. Additionally, if you have any idea where else to post this question, please include that as well.
