I haven't flown on a commercial airliner in so long! Exciting!

Anyhow, I have a garmet bag for my shirts so that they don't get wrinkled along with a duffle bag.

I heard that some planes have a small closet thing to hang garmets in, is that so?

United Express will be the carrier, so it isn't going to be a big plane or anything.

If they don't, I suppose that would be two carrys ons, when only one bag and one 'personal item' is allowed.

Thoughts?

Yes, they will have a place to put your garment bag.

Yes, the garment bag will NOT count as a regular carry-on.

Every plane I know of has a closet for garment bags (including smaller jets like Embraer). Even if they don't, I doubt they will count the garment bag as a carry-on. Double check with them when you check in though.

Hmm good to know. I have never seen them on a plane and have flown many times.

If you're talking about something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Ballisti...-Garment/dp/B0002ATXTC then people who carry those on to airplanes, especially fully booked ones, are dicks. They take up way too much space in the overhead if you can even get them to fit and asking the flight attendant to store them someplace else is out of line. If that's what you're using then please check the bag and just carry on your duffel bag.

I HATE flying on weekday mornings and afternoons because of all the business travelers who try to fit entirely too much crap in the overhead compartments so they don't have to check anything. Nevermind that the people who get on after them would also like to fit something in the overhead compartment!
