So, yeah, I know, this is bad that I'm bringing this up, and its really wrong...but I was going through the airport the other day and it took an hour to go through security. This got me to thinking...who needs guns, or knives, or weapons to hijack a plane? All the security in the world doesn't matter...if terrorists wanted to hijack a plane...just book a whole flight full of terrorists...if they're willing to die anyways they'd be willing to sacrifice 200 in order to jack a plane and fly it into another building to make a statement. I mean, whos gonna stop a planeload of 200 terrorists? A sky marshall? If they're all middle eastern I'm sure they'd have a tough time picking out the sky marshall...yeah right...who would resist? How many terrorists could a sky marshall take out by himself? If they're all in on it who would be the hero? Just a random thought I had as I was going through the airport the other day...

reinforced cockpit door mean anything to you? if they don't have weapons how do you expect them to get in? pilot still controls the plane. land the plane. get the crew off. blow up the plane.

another disturbing thought that came to my mind...

the security in other countries are probably better than the US. on my flight from us-japan, i went through security in no time flat, on my way back, they wanted to hand search my bag because i had some styrofoam in it. figure that one out.

just like one airport made the guy turn on his laptop, but another one made a passenger do that AND check his laptop bag.

we are a long ways off in terms of airport security.

On my way back home over X-mas, they practically took apart my new Gamecube.

No, other countries do not have better security... I was in France a few months ago, and their security sucked. There were even Parisians smoking under the no smoking signs while waiting feet away from American planes. They were the ones that let the shoe bomber by too though. I will have to say that the Brit security is the best though.

Shipping computer- or video hardware to the States: Put in box, stick on address, send.

Shipping the same hardware to China: Fill out 2 miles of paperwork, fax/call with Chinese customs for a month, get a renowned Chinese university, company or the government itself to confirm the order and place a few requests, then stick a few more miles of paperwork on the box stating to the letter how many CDs, diskettes, boxes, boards, booklets and other things are in the box, and what hardware is in the computer (all of this has to be communicated beforehand with customs too), send it within a set time period, and hope they are going easy on you and don't want to give you a hard time.

When I visited the States a year ago for both work and for visiting family I arrived at the customs, and was not able to give them an address where I'd stay (forgot to write that down somewhere :p) or a time period I'd be leaving in (depended on how long the installation of the new network would take). I was dressed the usual way (imagine a tall guy, skinny, pale, leather jacket, long hair, dressed all in black), and although I couldn't tell em anything basically about my stay I was not questioned further, wasn't searched, they didn't check my luggage, and could just walk through. Only twice was my luggage checked, and that was on two of my many trips to the UK (first time I had put an electric razor in the wrong bag, second time I was transporting a VCR).

Guess I look trustworthy :)

(Anyone needs some drugs next time I visit the States? ;) :Q :D)
