I've seen other Airport threads here and this is mine ? It's more an annoyance than a real problem but hopefully other users can tell me if they experienced this too or not. Our household uses Apple because "it just works" so I want to get rid of this flaw if possible.
Since I've changed the encryption on our Airport Extreme base station from WEP to WPA/WPA2, all clients have ceased to automatically connect to the WLAN after standby or booting up. I have to manually select our WLAN from the menu bar's airport icon to reconnect them.
All of our Macs are affected:
- Powerbook G3 / OS X 10.4 / 802.11b / WPA
- iBook G4 / OS X 10.4 / 802.11g / WPA2
- Macbook / OS X 10.5 / 802.11g / WPA2
The Macs recieve their IP by DHCP lease, and there is no priority conflict in the preferred WLAN list of the system preferences. Have I overlooked something or is there no solution?
