Hello,

I am not sure if this is the correct subforum to place this query on as it relates to running windows vista ultimate as a virtual machine via parallels on mac os 10.5.6

I have got a mac running 10.5. just installed parallels and windows vista.

I am trying to network using windows vista, but am having problems finding the network adapter.

i connected my router via ethernet and tried to start internet explorer and got the "internet explorer cannot display the webpage". i ran the diagnostics and got the following message:

"This computer does not have a network adapter installed and configured.
INstall networking hardware, and verify that the correct drivers are loaded. Click here for information"

when i click on for more information, i get the troubleshoot driver problems with a bunch of options. i think this is a driver issue. can you guys point me to where i can get the driver (running windows vista ultimate 32 bit version)and how can i install the driver.

i also tried to connect to a network but got the message "windows cannot find any networks". when i ran the diagnostics, i got the same message as "this computer does not have a network ...."

My machine's specs are the following

Process 3.06 GHz INtel Core 2 Duo
Memory 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

and has the Airport Extreme card with firmware from Broadcom

There should be an option in Parallels to patch the Mac's network connection through to the Virtual Machine. I haven't used Parallels since version 1, and have since only used VMWare Fusion, and they call it NAT in VMWare. No idea if they use the same term in Parallels or not.

That is what you are looking for.

thanks for the pointer dude, i needed to install the parallel desktop tools and they copied across the settings, including encryption passkey to the windows vm.
i was trying to get my hp desktop printer/scanner to work. when i plug in its usb connector to the mac, i get the machine do you want to connet the printer to the mac or the virtual machine. i though the peripherals would be connected to both the mac os x and the vm
