Airport Express

I'm totally confused about what an Airport Express is. Is it a wireless router? Is it something you have in addition to a router?

What I'm trying to do is this. I have a wireless network running on my PC. I have an Apple G5 in another room that I would like to have pick up the wireless signal. It doesn't seem to have a built in wireless card, but I do have an Airport Express. Is that all the hardware I need to solve te problem? And if so, how do I go about actually doing it?

Airport was the original wireless NIC for the apples. I installed an airport card into my GF's mac laptop so that she could get online. Airport express is the later version of airport (AFAIK), and should just be a card that you install into the laptop.

So in other words, it's not the router, it's the wireless adaptor that you use to connect to your wireless router. I found a lot of documentation on the apple website when I was doing this.
