Airport Express on secured network?

Wasn't sure where to post this, but since it's an Apple product...

Just switched routers to a Netgear WNDR3700, which requires wireless clients to used at least WEP 64-bit encryption to join the network. This has worked for all my other clients (laptop, phones, Roku, etc.) but my Airport Express simply won't join. I've reset and configured it several time, all with no luck. I know WEP is a weak encryption, but I live in a rural, low security risk area, so my main concern here is getting the AX on the network. So, anyone here with experience getting this device joined to a secure wireless network? If so, what encryption method did you use? TIA!

Are you trying to extend your wireless network with the airport express, or are you using it for music/printer?

I would use WPA2 personal instead of WEP, not for security, but ease of use. You can use short easy password for it.

I've run into many problems with WEP 64bit and Mac's.

The Netgear can run multiple connections, 5Gz, 2.4Ghz, and guest networks. Make sure you are connecting to something compatible with the Apple.

No, just streaming iTunes from my PC. I probably will go with WPA2; just wondered if anyone here was using the AX and what encryption worked best with it.

Finally got it working. Had to disable security completely (again, not a biggie where I live) and rename my wireless network; the old name had a period in it, which apparently the AX choked on. I may re-institute security with WPA2.
