Airport Airdisk and torrent uploads?

So I can download torrents to my external drive connected via my apple airport extreme just fine, however I can't upload - because there isn't permission.

Now if I share the disk over WAN, it works just fine... naturally.

My concern is, how secure is that... is my entire media library just available to anyone now? A public SMB share? :S the horror...

I want to use it as a central media library that I download torrents and seed from directly..



Thoughts and advice on this would be much appreciated.
