Been using Airplay a lot to stream audio & video from my 4S to my friend's AppleTV. Usually just throw up audio & video from Youtube, Vimeo, Pandora & MP3's. Now I'm using mirroring and the Camera APP & google maps app & street view. Airplay is really sweet.

It wirelessly sends your Iphone's video output to your HDTV in 1080P or 720P. The mirroring shows whatever you're doing on your Iphone on the Television. It's really neat. Curious if Android has something similar?

Don't think Android has anything out that isn't tied to one specific phone model. The Nexus 4 supports wireless display, but there are no Miracast receivers yet. Should be some this year I think.

Does the Samsung work for the N4 and other non-Samsung devices? That would be nice, considering you can get it for $50 with the Samsung accessory coupon codes.

yes, a recent firmward update has enabled miracast on it. i believe the same is true for the most recent beta firmware on the netgear box.

i haven't used either myself.

Nope... from what I understand though neither does airplay. Miracast looks like the best option out there because you can bypass all the DRM issues.

Airplay does indeed do mirroring. It is also possible for developers to use the airplay device as a second screen, not just a mirror.

It looks like Miracast acts the same as airplay.

How does Miracast bypass any DRM issues?

Ha! Bypass DRM! You got proof on this one? I would imagine the only way to bypass DRM is to strip it on of your source entirely.
