Airplane Travel While Sick

Dedpuhl

Lifer
I was just recently taken off of a prescription of Cipro XR 1000. If anyone here has taken it, you know how bad it screws up your stomach. Anyway, I was just taken off it b/c I became violently ill (again). My stomach, after 3 days, is still hurting. I feel rather nauseous and taking over-the-counter pain remedies does not help.

Tomorrow, I will be on an airplane for 4 hours. I usually do not experience any illness when flying, but I think I may have problems this time. Does anyone have any recommendations for over-the-counter meds or other things I can do to relieve the symptoms?

The first med that comes to my mind is Dramamine. Will this stuff work when my stomach is already screwed up?

I?m waiting for a callback from the doctor, so I?m just asking what the great people of ATOT can suggest 😉

I'd ask a doctor. Being that you are off that medicine, taking something else may not be a good idea. Otherwise, I'd consider Pepto Bismol or something like that. Maybe Brandy or something?

Could always just skip eating for 12-24hrs before hand and then not have to worry about anything awful coming back out. Drink water so you don't dehydrate...

This could be very bad advice and therefore I refer you back to the Doctor comment.

Being a member of ATOT, I'd suggest waiting for that callback from the Dr. Very few if any that will reply to this thread will have a PhD behind their name and it is your health and well being. Also your Dr. knows your situation much better than the average chimp here also.. (yes, myself included.. hey toss me that banana) 😀

Not to mention the fact that no MD would be stupid enough to try to diagnose or treat a patient over the internet anyway.

Just curious, but why do you want a 'Philosopher' - as in a PhD,
when a Medical Doctor, an MD is what should be consulted ?

Do eat--but don't overeat.

Drink water (no alcohol!)

Take Benadryl or Dramamine to help you relax on the plane.

edit: Go to a drug store and ask the pharmacist about interactions between Cipro and Dramamine.
