Airplane power adapter

I will be making a 15-hour trip to Hawai'i at the end of the month and I would like to take my notebook computer. Obviously, it won't have enough power for the entire journey, so I am in search of a power adapter to plug into the odd outlet. This is in the First Class Cabin of United Airlines.

I have already a car power convertor, and I would rather not drop $120 on a new power convertor. Has anyone seen or heard of an adaptor that will allow me to connect my car power convertor to the plane's outlet?

(FYI -- I believe it was a 12 VDC outlet, but I can't remember.)

Best Buy sells many inverters for $50-$60 that will work on planes. I bought mine there around Christmas time.

You can afford 1st class to Haiwaii and a laptop but don't want to spend on a power adapter....

Cry me a river....Have fun watching the flight attendant for 13 hours.

Was that really necessary?

And I did not pay for the ticket -- I got it through many years of saving miles.

My notebook computer was a gift from my grandma.

I suggest that you keep your mouth shut about a situation if you don't know the whole picture.

Have you asked the airline if the plane you're boarding whether first class includes standard ac adapter plugs?

That is a good question.

AFAIK, it's only in the bathrooms where the regular outlets are located. They purposely did this for a reason. :p

United first class almost always has an outlet in every seat, but does vary by the plane. I imagine a plan flying from dulles (?) to LAX or SFO and onto Hawii would have it.
