airplane arcade games

was talking to some people at work and the topic of the conversation turned to old arcade airplane games. the ones where you move up down left right, one button to shoot and another for bomb.

anyone of you remember the names of those games? man brings back memories.

The 194x series were fun.

So was River Raid for the Atari 2600

1942 was pretty good. I was a big fan of Sky Shark for NES.

Shoot Em Up's, aka "Shmups"

I don't think it gets much better than the Raiden series for those.

Ya I wasted hundreds of quarters on those games on the arcade. What was the one called where you had like 3 different types of planes? It was pretty futuristic, the last boss was a space shuttle. You have different cannons and attacks, and you also had big bomb specials, and each one had a different one. One of the bomb specials was the plane turning upside down and releasing a barrage of bombs. The other one called in a bomb strike and the whole screen just got bombarded with random bombs. I think the 3rd one had a huge huge laser beam in front of it demolishing everything. God I would love to play that game again.

TigerHeli for the NES. The same except it was a helicopter.
