Airlink Omni-Directional Antenna

Has anyone really tried testing and using the Airlink ASB-7MA antenna?

I bought 2 of em because they were on sale and I will be adding wireless camera to our house soon so I thought they would help with the connection. I didn't really notice any difference with it because I get signal from the places I use wireless even before putting it on. But now I do notice that even if my laptop says LOW the speed goes to 54. I'm just hoping it helps when I put on a wireless camera outside of the house.

My router is an airlink MIMO XR.
 
I bought it and attached it to my PCI Wireless card, and it is giving me much better signal strenth than the antenna that came with it. But that may be due to the antenna simply being farther away from the interference of my computer than the one that stuck directly onto the end of the card.
