Airlink AWMB100 and other music bridges...

I simply can't get my Airlink music bridge to work without being connected to the router (Linksy WRT54gs) , which doesn't make a lick of sense to me given that the Airlink has an antenna. I haven't been able to solve the problem since I bought it about a year ago (the company's customer service is horrendous), anyone have experience with this particular product? I'm not the only one with the problem, I remember soon after I first bought it running into a review from a guy with the same issue; however, that was the only other place I've seen it mentioned. I've tried the router on a bunch of different frequencies, so I know there's not interference. Any idea on what could be causing my problems? Do all music bridges have to be connected to the router being used?

Welcome to AT Forums.

Your post is rather confusing may be you can explain exactly is the toplogy that you want to use.

Wireless? Wire? What is connected to what, and how?

Sorry, I'll be more clear.

It's a wireless music bridge. Given that it has an antenna, it seems that I should be able to connect the Airlink directly to my stereo setup via RCA cables, then stream music wirelesss via my laptop's wireless card; however, it only works when I connect it to my router (which I AM wirelessly connected to), then to the stereo. It seems to kill the convenience of the product requiring to have the stereo near the router for it to work. I've read many reviews of the product and have only seen one person say that they could only get it to work with it connected to their router. It's my only experience with a wireless router so I'm not sure if all bridges need to be connected to the router to function.

Again, customer service with the company has been awful, so help from them is out of the question.

These device are Client Bridges with audio interface.

The device should be able to connect wirelessly to the Router and infuse audio to the Network. The computers get the audio from the Router.

I am Not familiar with the Air Link but the first step is usually is to connect the Bridge with a wire to a stand alone computer and through the computer configure it to work with the Router (IP, SSID, Channel Security).

Then when it works with the Router you take it off the computer and connect it as stand alone to the Audio Source.

I've tried that, it has instructions to follow when installing the Airlink. I've had the same problem with two of the same model, so I highly doubt it's a defective unit. I'm at my wit's end, and my only thought it that it's a conflict between the router and the Airlink. When I go to http://192.168.1.1/ , it usually goes to the Linksys setup. When the Airllink is plugged directly into the laptop via ethernet cable, it takes me to it's own setup. Could you do me a favor and check out the two settings and see if you can find a conflict? If not, I think I'm just going to spend the $100 on the Apple music bridge or take my chances on one of these http://www.amazon.com/Slinglin...&qid=1243145068&sr=1-7

Here are the photos of the settings:

Much appreciated.

It seems thta the two device has the same IP number.

That is a Big No No on a Network. Connect the Airlink to a computer on its own (Ni Linksys involved) and configure it to another IP of the same subnet. like 192.168.1.10

I changed it to the IP you recommended. It didn't seem to work at first, so I went back to the "Web Configuration" for the Airlink (where I accessed all of those options I posted photos of) and now it says "Make sure your PC's IP is set to 192.168.1.x", and I can no longer reach the settings at all. The music bridge still does not work when not connected to the router or PC. If you have any ideas off of the top of your head, that would be appreciated, but otherwise, I think I'm about to throw the thing away because it has caused WAY more trouble than the $100 it would cost from a more reliable brand.
