Re: This article

Since early this year, I've planned to go home to NYC to have Thanksgiving w/my family.

I currently live in the Midwest....somwhwere west of Ohio. Nuff said there.

It just so happens that yesterday morning I searched Orbitz for a round-trip ticket arriving Thanksgiving week and returning the following week. Minimum price? $485+frickin' tax! :Q

Knowing that Thanksgiving is the busiest travel season of the year, AND that the earlier you buy, the better off you are...I was tempted to purchase yesterday. Something made me wait.

And I'm GLAD something did! :D

The cost of my round trip ticket today, identical travel days: $240.

Just goes to show you what a frickin' RIPOFF airline tickets are. :rolleyes;

My ticket is paid in full.

So, two weeks from now, when prices go thru the roof, I'll be sitting pretty.

ps
Don't think I don't know that my ticket will probably be worth $800+ come 1 November.
But that ticket is for me to see my family. :) If I had the money, I'd buy a dozen of them now and sell later...like a scalper for the Super Bowl. ;)

Cliff Notes
Major Airlines filed for bankruptcy today, resulting in plummeting ticket prices! Buy NOW.

Southwest. Even assuming that they go out of business b/t now and then, they still have to get me there...at their expense.

Southwest has one of the best business models in the airline industry. They are the benchmark for everyone else. They'll be one of the last guys to file for the Big B.

Argh. North. South. I get confused when I'm not holding my Certified Magnetic North Explorer Compass...that I got out of the Cracker Jack box. :D

Hey, I got a damn ticket and a confirmation number! I am good to go...hopefully on the correct airline this time! ;)

You should...it's perfectly legal, the airlines allow it and everyone does it.

Wow...that sounds like something I would say. Remarkable!

Northwest? well good luck with that. Hopefully they actually have a plane for you. They filed Ch. 11 today.

Not likely to have any more effect on their schedule than the current mechanics strike has.

Filing for bankruptcy DOES NOT mean "going out of business".
