Airline workers are scum

My sister flew back from Houston this afternoon from our parents house. While in TX my mom bought her two dvds which my sister placed in her checked luggage since she did not have any room in her carry on. The two dvds were packed under some clothes against each other with the receipt between them incase something happened during the flight she could exchange them.

Well during unpacking she finds one dvd and the receipt missing. Furthermore, the bag did not have a security marker inserted in it as is policy if a bag is opened for security measures. First time anyone in the family has ever flown Northwest and it will be the last. She is now checking everything to make sure that dvd is the only item missing.

ban them. err... boycott. err.. damn..what can you do in this situation... I'd call the airline and ask for the dvd back.

Already been done, but the CS rep informed my sister she has to call back and speak to the appropriate people on Monday.

UMMM actually it was probably NOT airline employees. My mom works for an airline and she says you would be amazed at what the TSA employees do when searching bags.

Security tag or not. It happens and it sucks.....

Agreed, though I believe it's not TSA directly doing the inside job, but rather contracted baggage screeners under the authority of TSA. Remember folks, they are searching your bags for your security!

I watched a news special a few years back with hidden camera footage of airline baggage handlers going through and stealing checked luggage. That's why I always try to carry on my valuable stuff. Let them take my boxers, they're full of holes anyway.

We had a TSA employee get very rude with us once. Also it seems any time I've checked my luggage, they think it's fun to take it and throw it up in the air, across a good distance, so it slams down onto the conveyer belt, and always make sure it (the rolling kind with the retractable handle) lands on it's front, which has no support, so anything inside can get smashed, instead of on it's back where the frame tubing is. All right in front of me. These people are slime.

Not sure it'll help, but I guess it doesn't hurt to send a complaint using TSA's contact form. Maybe after enough complaints...

You mean that it's POSSIBLE that ONE airline workes is scum. Why does this reflect on all airline workers in general?

This is not the only problem my family or friends have experienced in the past. Just the most recent one.

On our way back from Cuba we had stolen out of our checked in luggage:
- antique irreplaceable watch
- jewellry
- camera with some honey moon pictures

I win.

I learned that:
- don't check in a damn thing of value
- there is a reason people hate communists

I definately agree that you shouldn't check anything of value. I just pack my clothes in my suitcase. Everything of value goes in my carry on.
