i'm flying to europe next week and i want to bring my laptop and be able to use it on the plane. i've heard that some airlines use a dc jack, and some just provide a regular ac outlet. anyone know what Air France (airbus) uses? are they even available in coach?

if they are, and they're also dc, anyone know of a place that would carry a car dc to air dc adapter (or are they the same?)? i've already got a car adapter from a previous trip and i'd like to avoid shelling out $70+ for an auto/air adapter if possible. i've seen them on a few webpages, but i can't seem to find one at a store. the people at radio shack, best buy, and compusa didn't even know they existed:(

Can't last a few hours without your computer? Bring a book, take a nap, look out the window at the clouds. Nerd ;D

8 hours there, 10.5 hours on the way back, and that's not even counting the connection flights... i'd like to be able to use my computer as my mp3 player rather than relying on swapping discs, plus i have an ebook or 2 on there :)

Radio Shack used to sell a converter for cigarette lighter to airline DC adapter like this for $10.

I've never been in a plane with outlets either.

You may be better off charging at an outlet around the gate area while you are waiting. Just remember you'll need a portable voltage and plug converter in Europe.

Power outlets not very common in coach. Even with the few that do, it's usually every few rows with one jack. So unless you score that particular seat or the person in that particular seat is your friend/family, you'll look like an a** trying to plug something in.
