So here's the deal:

I booked a flight from Toronto to Halifax leaving at 6:30pm. It's a 2 hour direct flight from Sunwing, a relatively unknown airline, but it's cheap.

Today, I go online to print off my tickets, and the flight now departs at 10AM. I call them up to confirm the time. Apparently, 8.5 hour changes are routine with them, and they "cannot" issue a refund. I didn't purchase insurance.

Not only does the flight now leave 8 and a half hours earlier, it's now a 7-hour connecting flight through Newfoundland (a major detour, for those unfamiliar with Canadian geography).

They don't offer any other flights I could take. The only thing the CSR could offer me for my trouble was a window seat.

I want a refund. This means missing an entire extra day of work because of the flight change.

What would you do?

I would give the airline the middle finger after sprinting down the runway flapping my arms, taking off, and following the plane's course to your destination. Screw you, expensive airlines!

I'd Stew over it, call credit card company, get my money back and never fly that airline without reading the fine print before I clicked "Confirm" to buy a ticket.

I took a flight from Toronto to Halifax a few weeks ago. Was Air Canada though and they were pretty decent... Never even heard of Sunwing.

All I have to say is the view from one of those big planes is amazing. If you can see if Air Canada can get you on a last minute flight.

means not getting paid or having to take time off that could have been otherwise saved for later.

Did the cancel the flight you wanted to be on? If they did there's no way you can get in at the old time. If they still have the old flight it means they bumped you off because they think they can resell your seat to somebody that will pay more for it.

If he's already paid, how could they do that? Is this one of those things they could give any bullshit reason and he wouldn't be able to prove it?
