Just heard on CNN...

They are saying it is from the same plane...

6 MILES????

If it really crashed, how in the heck can it be 6 MILES away?

Hmm, is it possible it was really shot down and they are not telling anyone? They are saying an engine is in the second debris field... it could have been taken off by a heat-seeking missile like an AIM-9L Sidewinder...

Yikes!

Thoughts?

Still can't find the black boxes.

I'd say the bomb apparently on board was detonated at altitude. That's why it's so spread.

What bomb? I didn't think there was a bomb on any of them...

Hmm...

Perhaps that is what those second explosions in the WTC were, perhaps there really were bombs on the planes...

Yikes!

Well they said the people on the cell phones said the hijackers threatened there was a bomb. Either it was a ploy to prevent the passenger to attack(which obviously failed) or there really was a bomb on board. Looks like it now though.

Don't get me wrong, if our fighters shot the plane down, that is OK. It was required after the first three hits...

That being said, I cannot imagine why our goverment wouldn't say so... everyone would understand...

Perhaps you're right, perhaps there really was a bomb. Would explain the WTC towers...

I think the crater indicates the plane crashed intact at high speed. When the Value Jet crashed in the Everglades, it left a small compact crater that went downward into the muck and then into the limestone.

didn't one of the cell phone calls say he say white smoke coming from the front of the plane, and that the hijackers had a red box that they claimed was a bomb? I am guessing that the fighting on-board may have led to them detonating some sort of small bomb that rendered the plane inoperable....they also hit the ground at a very steep angle, at very high speeds....perhaps somewhere in that descent they passed the speed at which the plane stays together structurally....there is a name for that speed, but I can't remember what it is...

Thats a far far way for something to go! that does seem probaly! At 600miles an hour a large jet plane into the ground creates an incredicble ammount of force!

No real surprise to me- when our governor crashed last year just before the election, parts of the plane were found over a mile away, and they weren't going anywhere near airliner type speeds

The government actually changed tunes on the idea of shooting down that airliner south of Pittsburgh. Apparently they moved from plain "no" to "we will not confirm or deny". This is a strange twist.

Could be many explanations without invoking the 'shot down' theory.

If flaps are fully extended when the plane is going to fast they will get ripped off, plane will then lose a lot of lift and likely go in to a dive, at which point the pilot must point the nose down.

Those flap controls are likely to be a lever of some kind (rather than a dial) and maybe got hit or fell on during the apparent scuffle.

i remember hearing that there was a fighter jet following closely to the aircraft.. once they confirmed that it was hijacked I belive that it was shot down.

reasons:

-it hit in middle of nowhere.
-didnt hit desired target..unless its target was dirt.
-parts scattered 6 mile radius.
-confirmation of fighter jet following closely.

possible... we may never know, but for now the government is denying any such action and I don't think they would try to cover something like that up.

The white smoke I believe may have been the pilot dumping the fuel, which is called-for as part of some emergency protocols. It could be confused for white smoke.

everybody would NOT understand.. the thought of a US jet striking down a US commercial plane, regardless of the circumstances is too irrational for some people to comprehend.. sad to say, but its true...
