The stupidity of the French never ceases to amaze me. Those socialists are simply handing their country away as it is already. Oh well, Airbus sucks anyway and I don't want to be on one now so if China builds them that will really seal the deal for me.

More disturbing, to me anyways, is the transfer of technology in building large modern planes. This would undoubtedly be used by the Chinese in the military program for bomber construction.

That is not anything anyone can control anyway. The Chinese have displayed quite blatantly that if they cannot acquire technology legitimately they will simply steal it. They have been doing it for decades. How do you think they have grown so fast. If they want the technology to build big aircraft they are going to get it.....and then build substandard planes anyway so don't worry. China and quality are not something you usually see in the same sentence.

bending over isn't the right thing to do:p
how about we start turning off our firewalls and antivirus. its not gonna stop people from trying, why bother.

Don't count on it. It isn't going to happen regardless of what the little Chinese fanbois tell you. You can't sustain economic power on substandard products produced by slave labor that is controlled by a communist government. Until the Chinese can produce the highest quality goods at a cheaper price than anyone else with a relative high standard of living of the general population don't give them so much credit.

Chinese fanbois or not, you will hear people continuing to cry like little b!tches about outsourcing. It works. It hurts, and all you dems are crying left and right about it whether you think the power of economics works or not.

I know that most of you here are too young to remember but back in the early 60's, the Japanese had a reputation for producing a lot of cheap goods with lousy quality. China will be next in line. The sleeping bear awakes so you better all learn how to speak Mandarin just like a lot of Koreans and Japanese are now learning...

No chance. Energy crunches will stop the Chinese from truly advancing as other nations have.
Then again, those same energy crunches will be a huge drag on the economies of other countries as well.

China is a country of industrial thieves, they are not innovators. This is well known, only making the French even more ignorant than I had previously imagined.

Ronstang, I am sure what you say is true... but that doesn't change the fact that they are up and coming.. we cannot afford to brush them off and pretend like China isnt going to matter in the 21st Century. Trust me they will.

And I, for, one welcome our new Chinese Overlords ..

Don't hold your breath. They are late to the table as far as inustrialized nations are concerned and are only building their economy on the backs of what is basically slave labor. They have too far to come to match the rest of the industrialized world because the standard of living of the masses in China comes nowhere near places like Europe of the US, and their economy relies heavily on the REST of the world. They will burn bright for a short period but they cannot build their own people up to a point of serving their own economy without loosing their ONLY advantage....CHEAP LABOR.

Wasn't the Challenger Space Shuttle built by some of the brightest minds our best colleges graduated? China has some quality control problems but so does America. Remember the Ford Pinto and Chevy Vega?

My life is not dependent on a MB.

God dammit, did anybody bother to read the article, or any other BETTER articles about this??? China wants to built themselves the Airbusses they are planning to purchase = get license.
These aircraft would be built in China for China. Its not like Airbus is outsourcing/moving production there.

I don't think anyone here gets it. I want China to start becoming a legitimate economy and have a legit government. Wanting them to rot and not get a contract is going to just keep their human rights abuses alive, they will keep devaluing the yuan, and will continue to act like a bunch of jerks. If they start becoming a part of normalized civilization it is good for all of us (minus Japan, they will probably kill them).

Riiiight. And next year you'll see a airframe that, gee, looks familiar, available on the open market.

That would then be copying... something which the Chinese sure know how to do!!!
But it would not be Airbus then...
