Airbags and glasses

With modern glasses they usually don't shatter unless hitting something hard, ie: dashboard. The air bag 99.9% of the time won't break them. Of course they will get pushed into your face leaving small bruises and not much more.

IMHO, where your glasses and don't worry about the airbag as long as you are wearing your seatbelt.

I would be much more worried about my rigid contacts than glasses.

Most "glasses" these days are actually plastic, & aren't going to do much other than leave nice rings around your eyes.

Honestly, if you're wearing your seat-belt properly there is really no instance where your head would come into contact with either the dashboard or the steering wheel.

unless you have super tight glasses, they'll fly off your head in the event of a collision

I've been hit by an airbag in the face while wearing glasses and I'm fine. I would worry if my eyes bulged out or something...

If I sit at arms length, my seat leans too far back and my neck hurts.

i know this isn't related to airbags, but............

i had a really nasty fall while snowboarding several years ago. i was attempting to clear this huge jump, when it was nothing but icy conditions, while wearing a pair of sunglasses (no helmet). i caught an edge on my toe side during landing, and slammed my face straight into the icy landing. my upper lip was cut into two pieces, with one piece dangling, and my face was cut up pretty bad. i had bad bruises on my nose bridge, and around my eyes etc. in the shape of the sunglasses, but the lens didn't shatter. the medics thought i might had a concussion or something, but i felt fine.

Yeah, that's definitely not a good thing to think about. Ouch!

i've heard of a girl who had an accident with a candycane while driving. most people suck on the end of candycane, which sharpens the end. i heard the sharp end pierced through top of her mouth. i don't know if it was airbag that pushed it in, or what.

Well, I guess I have other things to worry about; My car doesn't have airbags. That's a plus cause they might have gone off that one time I rear-ended someone on the freeway. I was slowing down and locked the brakes up. Hit him square in the bumper. Minor damage, no exhange of insurance info.

Why would it be hazardous? The only thing that would happen is that the frame gets bent backwards, probably around the nosepad region.

Thats what usualy happens to me when I run into stuff. Then again, I'm chinese, so I dont have a bridge.

I think the worst case scenario is that your glasses fly off your head. Breakage of the lens is determinant on material. I have polycarbs, so I dont worry about that.
