Airbag stolen. How do I prevent it from happening again?

I have a 2012 Honda CRV that's my sister-in-law is currently using for work. She lives/works in a not-so-great area in the city, gets home late and parks her car about a block or two from her apartment.

Last week, someone broke into the Honda and stole the driver-side airbag. She wasn't using "the club" that I normally use, which I'm sure would have helped deter the thief to some extent. Now that the car is fixed ($500 deductible :-/), what can I do to prevent this from happening again? It's back where it was before, except with the club in place.

I have no clue how the thief got in, but he damaged the key/lock system. It doesn't sound like he set off the car alarm or he might have disabled it after he got in.

She has no option but to park in that area for now. Luckily, she's moving in about two months. The stock lock and alarm system seems pretty useless. The club might offer some level of protection, but I'm certain the thieves can get around that too. Dash cam is only on when the car is on, so it doesn't help (plus, thief could have just stolen it). Anything else I can do to protect my car? Better security options that I don't know about? Thanks.

The club won't deter a serious thief. It is very easy to defeat. You just need a hacksaw or something similar.

Most vehicles if you break a window and crawl in, the alarm will not go off. It's not until you open a door that causes the alarm to go off. Most thieves know this so they don't open a door.

You cannot stop a determined thief. As long as you are parking it in a bad area, get good insurance and hope for the best.

while this is true, you put a club on your car and hope that the sonuvabitch isn't that determined and goes to the next honda instead.
