I have an early flight tomorrow (out of Tucson International). I can't arrange for transportation that gets me there 2 hours in advance (this busses don't run that early). I am wondering what kind of actual delays travelers are experiencing today at this or other airports.

my mom flew out of Atlanta on saturday, we got there 2.5 hrs early because of suspected delays, and she was able to catch an hour earlier flight to DFW

Tucson is a small airport, (~22 gates?) I doubt that there will be measurable delays especially early in the morning

Yes, it is a small airport. But that might mean that they don't have very many screeners.

A taxi ride would be like $40.

just take note of what's allowed/prohibited for carry-ons and you should be set with ~1hr lead time.

I had a 7 am flight this morning out of NY LaGuardia to O'Hare in Chicago.

The security line was not bad at all (only slightly slower than normal) and my flight left on-time (as it usually does on Monday). I gave myself extra time this morning, but it really wasn't needed. Most people are aware of the extra restrictions and either check their bags or have their carry-ons properly prepared.

Flying in the opposite direction last Thursday evening was a nightmare, however. 45 minutes to 1 hour in the security line followed by around a 4 hour delay flying out. Thursday evenings are always terrible for traveling, so I can't really attribute the delays to the added security restrictions.

I flew out of LGA to Orlando Friday evening...I was through security in under 5 minutes. Coming back from West Palm to LGA, about the same. If anything, security went faster than normal. Of course, these were both evening flights over a weekend; morning loads during the week are much, much higher.

What time is the flight leaving? That makes a difference. If it's a 6am flight or something, it will be busier. If Tuscon is a hub, you might see more traffic again from 8am-9pm....then again at 10am. I'll bet that if you can get through the lines to check your bags it'll only take you another 10 minutes to get through security and 10 minutes to get to your gate.

It has never taken me more than 10 minutes to get through security in Tucson. And that time it took 10 minutes was because I was behind about a dozen senior citizens who took a long time understanding that they needed to remove their shoes.

YMMV of course, I hear about co-workers who took up to a half hour for flights ~8AM.
