How much are they and who would I contact to have one performed? Both my younger brother and I are having digestive system ailments at the same time and the same kind, and I've always been suspicious of the air quality in the house.

Thanks for any input you guys can give.

You would want to look for an AIHA certified lab. There are many different types of tests that can be done so it can get expensive if you want the whole deal. If you contact an AIHA certified lab, they should have an certified Industrial Hygenist who could check your place out. However, be warned most bill by the hours and it can range from $100 to $300 per hour.

It could be mold spores, bacterial spores, respirable dust, semi-volatile organic compounds, volatile organic compounders - all of which require different media and different testing parameters.

Things to keep in mind is that everybody's house has mold. It is impossible to get rid of, so don't freak out if you have some. You may be able to fix your problems with a simple fancy air filter. Some insurance policies may cover a 'sick house' problem, however many policies no longer include them as they are getting quite expensive.

Check out this list of laboratories and call for advice.
