Does anyone have any experience with air purification devices? I live in a town house next to the construction of a highrise, and the dust is incredible. My house gets enormous amount of dust buildup in the matter of only two weeks. I also have developed a nasty cough. I spent a few days at my gf's parents house for Christmas, and with in a day my cough was gone. Now I am back home and the cough is here. Are there any devices that are effective and removing dust from the air in my house?

well the #2 rated according to CR is the honeywell 50250 unit. it's the only unit your going to find for a reasonable price. the fancy units like the IQAIR and such are $450 and up.

don't buy anything you can't find reviews for. some units do nothing (ionic breeze for example).

i have the honeywell 50100 which is only good for like 130sqft. i'm going to return it, i noted no tangible difference in air quality using it.... but i'm not having the issues you are.

another thing to note, is most air purifiers are very loud. on max they sound a lot like a vacuum cleaner. you can put them on a lower setting, but obviously they won't purify as much air.

even on the lowest setting it was just barely tolerable white noise while sleeping.

i think all the kenmores are ok too, and some of them are relatively cheap.

Go with something that uses actual filters. The sharper Image crap is unhealthy afaik, with all the ozone and ions it puts out.
