It seems that filters are an area of the case that manafacturers (and many users) seem to ignore. I was wondering what kind of sollutions people here have come up with, either bought or home-made.

I got sick of the dust in my In-win case a few months ago and bought a cheap-ass furnace filter at Home Depot ($2). After cutting it up I was left with about 20 80mm-sized air filters. They've stopped TONS of dust, but they're hard to install/remove plus you can't reuse 'em. Just a few days ago I ordered 3 80mm mesh filters from 2cooltek. Anyone had experience with these, or created your own filters?

Share those nifty ideas! :D

I hacked up a old bounty sheet. Was going to try and put it in the front of my Antec SX830 with the snap in fan mounts. But it was a pain in the arse, and I didn't feel like messing with it :p

I've also heard of people using scotch-brite pads. Don't think I'd wanna try attaching that, though! Actually, the air filter I used even had a chicken-wire mesh on one side, which made attaching it using the fan screws easy.

I use one of those metal mesh filters and man, this thing is amazing. I tried dryer sheets and that wasn't all that much fun. This metal one stops all kinds of UFO's:) It's easy to clean and should last until a fan decides to eat it;)

I just use furnace intake filters (cut to size) and use velcro to make it easy to remove and replace dirty filters. Here's a pic. velcro
Here's a pic of the dirt they pick up dirty filters

i use some fiberglass mesh i found in the basement, doesn't stop everything but it's much friendlier with airflow :) easy to clean too, run your hand over it once and it all comes off

Currently i'm in the process of looking for fans and filters also. I happened to run into this one, but the thing is... WHERE ARE THE SCREW HOLES!? Don't know how to attach this.. no screw holes...

hito, it has a cover on it you can remove it to expose the screw holes and also to replace the filter without unscrewing it. The cover simply snaps into place.

Thanks for all comments. I'm using the mesh filter that Randy Harris had a link to, got it for only $2.50 at 2coolTek, tho (cheaper). Laz, great idea about the velcro, I gotta try that. The problem w/ the Q500n case is all of the stinkin' holes in the front. Your solution solves that problem.

Any comments on putting filters out the fans that blow out? Not sure if this would accomplish anything.
