Air filter sponge material, what to search for and advice pls

Here is a picture of the case I'm using (Coolermaster Elite 330 in case there is a problem viewing the image):

I've found a square piece of filtering material which would normally be for the CPU filter hole (I'm not sure it'll fit on mine though), but I'm wondering about the bigger rectangular hole. Because of the board I'm using, the graphics card has to be in pretty much the last slot on the board, so right at the bottom of the case, so that recangular hole doesn't match up at all.

I was thinking of buying a quantity of the sponge material and cut out the bits I need for both holes and stick them to the inside/outside of the case where possible/appropriate. I'm considering blocking up that rectangular hole because the only purpose I can see it serving is as a general free past for dust to get in the case as easy as possible.

I don't really care about looks much because (well, at the moment anyway) the side of the case has about a 1.5" gap between it and the side of my desk, so it isn't really visible.

It would be great if it acted as a noise dampener as well, because I'm a fussy b**t**d even though my system is quite quiet already 🙂

This stuff is used in some home AC filters and works great. You can find it at your local hardware store.
