Air filter box clips...

2000 Honda Civic EX. I need to replace one of the clips for the air filter box. Any ideas where I can get these clips easily? I tried a junkyard with some hondas but the boxes were gone or the clips were not the same. :/ C-clamps won't work for this, I already tried.

So... yeah... any ideas? Btw, getting those clips off of junkyard cars was impossible. They don't come off(I was going to try the wrong sized one for my car anyway but it would not budge).

If you still have 3 of the 4 (normally there are 4) then I wouldn't bother ... nothing's gonna happen with one clip missing.

Didn't you just buy that car in the last 30 days and it's already needing repairs. What a POS, you should have gotten one of the other 1000 cars that were recommended instead of a civic.

Please explain how the fuck changing an air-filter counts as a repair?

I think the assumption is that his shitter civic didnt have the clip in the first place when he bought it

IMO you're going to have to get the box because I don't believe the clips are a serviceable item. Which means buy it new, or become a regular at the junkyard. I bet they want an arm and a leg for it new but you should find out to gage the price the junkyard will want.

10 year old car though. It might not be available through the dealer any longer. No way to know until you ask.

The other option is to get to the yard and pull the whole airbox, rather than just the clips, but IMHO 3 out of four clips should, in most cases, be enough to create a good seal.

or just fab one. make a hole in box with a drill, put nut and bolt through, get an appropriate length of string or something. silicon seal the hole. done.

So wait the fact that the op (no offense) can't change an oil filter some how makes this car a piece of shit?

I think you missed the 10 page thread where this kid was totally irrational about purchasing a vehicle. He insisted a 8 year old civic was the only vehicle that wouldn't have any problems. My, my, it's been less than a month and he has found a "problem."

No the car isn't a "piece of shit" because of a broken clip, but if he'd bought a newer car with lower mileage like everybody suggested he wouldn't be dealing with these annoyances for another 3-5 years.

Hey, now, I was pretty hard on him in that thread, but in the end he got what he wanted. Let's not keep berating him about it, and anyhow this is an extremely minor issue and could happen to a car of pretty much ANY age.

Give him a break.

My god, you're denser than a neutron star...

It's a clip... I'm just asking where I can get the clip because it was broken off already. It's not a huge deal. Car runs perfectly fine.

Anyway, there are only two clips in total if I had the other clip on. I've looked at other Honda Civics that are the same generation and there are only two clips in total.

I'll probably ask a dealer or search harder in junkyards or try something else...

Oh and the seal, right, that's nothing huge... It isn't like half-open or anything...

The dealer should still be able to get the part, especially since I am sure it is exactly the same part installed on the 2010 models. I doubt it'd be more than $10 or $15.

I think most OEMs supply parts for 10 years after manufacturer.

Drive down to CA and take it from Fleabag's Civic, it'll lighten his car and help him achieve that 50mpg that he needs before he'll drive to the gym.

Thought he was "upgrading" to K&N? He doesn't need the airbox cover!

Sure it will be. I still get brand new fresh off the production line OEM parts for my 15 year old Toyota all the time even though the 5SFE was retired and replaced by the 2AZ several years ago. There are some parts you cannot get anywhere else.
