Without AC I would definatly die.

It gets close to 100 with humidity over 90% by chicago. That is death weather.

Yep, and older folks die from it every year.

Well I've been living without A/C for the past few days.. while it sucks ass I am slowly getting used to it even though it is 80 inside (90s outside).

Phoenix did not exist as a city before air conditioning. Proven fact.

Yeah, and it is also a proven fact that the rate of population growth in the west exploded after the indroduction of a/c.

That is indeed a sad and unfortunate fact 🙁

Before AC, people had the sense not to build massive heat-absorbing places of work in uninhabitable areas. 🙂

I currently have 1 air conditioning unit in my bedroom. The rest of the house is hot. I have a 2nd unit, but we haven't put it in the other bedroom yet. I'm looking at either getting central a/c this year or buying a 12000+btu unit for my downstairs. I can't deal with the heat when it is over 80 in the house. No way.

Can you image how much energy we would be saving, if there were no A/C?

Can you imagine the health care costs of treating people affected by the lack of A/C systems?

Before clothing, people had the good sense to not venture in the frigid climes of uninhabitly cold regions.

Technology FTW 🙂

Plus, before AC, we had Swamp Coolers out here. Not quite as good as AC, but it made it liveable.

man, how the hell did people get anything done before A/C was invented? the last few days have been hot as hell here and when i'm sweating just sitting in my chair, I don't feel like doing sh!t.

i couldn't imagine living in places like Texas or Arizona without A/C.

There's this thing called water. It helps keep you cool too.

move to Pheonix and tell us how you do without A/C

I have family in Pheonix and they don't use A/C much in the summer. Evaporative cooling is the popular solution there. It uses a fration of the energy needed for conventional building HVAC.
