Air conditioner Repair question

I'm sure theres someone out here that knows a bit about A/C's. I have a Kenmore in wall unit 17,000btu, and I bought this house in the fall and never tried it, now that summers coming I pluged it i nand turned it on and the compressor starts for a bit, than it seems like it bogs down after a bit. you can feel the copper getting real cold, and sometimes the whole thing gets cold and other times only the lower half. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas before I bring it in to have some one look at it.
Thanks in advance

Sounds like you have a restriction at the condensor. I would have a repair shop look at this, since there not very easy to service if you don't have experience.

BTW, household a/c units use R-22 which is still very inexpensive.

Well figured it out the guy that I bought the house from was kind of an idiot and had it wired wrong. He was off in his world and thought that red was ground😛
