I just rented a 700 square foot apartment. Which has a sleeve for an AC unit already.

So I need a thru the wall AC unit.

I found this Maytag which is 10, 000 BTU's. A little small for my apartment. But 12000 BTU's are so much more expensive (almost double in price).

Would this 10 000 BTU AC unit be enough to cool the apartment, if I add a fan on a low setting in my room? Or will the AC unit just be over loaded and end up burning out prematurely and/or costing me a lot on electricity?

Probably OK...I mean how hot and humid does it get in Canada?

Around here....95-102 degrees, pretty humid, through most of the summer... most people figure about 500-650 Sq Ft. per ton (12,000 BTU) of A/C

Humidity these days is around 60%, never really gets much higher then 90F without facturing in the humidity factor.

Thats what everyone recommend for my size apartment is 12000 - 13500 BTU's. But I forget to mention that my apartment has no direct sun except for an hour or so in hte morning. It has a lot of light, but no direct sun shinning in. I'm on the 5th floor (top floor) if that changes anything.
