hmmm no, but i suppose i could clean it. but i am not sure if that has anything to do with it? i had taped the vents shut during the winter and just unsealed it. but i dont think it should have anything to do with that?

you should change them every month or so. that's probably your problem.

You're blower motor might be fried. Go down the the central unit and make sure the blower (thing that blows aire, like a huge circular fan) is running. Could also be a lead on your thermostat that isn't turning on the blower.

No air coming out of the vents in the house? What if you run just the furnace motor for the fan? Any air coming out?

Yesterday my unit blew a fuse outside, so the furnace motor ran and blew air, but the unit itself never turned out. Simple override of the fuse until I can replace it tonight solved that issue (not recommended).

How long did you let it go? I've had a couple window units that wouldn't start blowing air out the vents until it was actually running for a while and cooled.

not too long. i had covered it up during the winter because the cold air was seeping in. i had just uncovered it and didnt let it really run. plus, the humming comes and goes...

well, all the normal sounds are there, just no breeze or any air coming out.

Sorry, couldn't resist mouse joke.

Serious answer; if it makes all the normal noises yet no air is blowing out, it is most likely the blower motor (or any blower motor controls), as someone else has suggested.

Is this CAC?

To see check for indoor fan motor operation, set the OFF/AUTO/ON switch to ON. The fan should run. If not you may need to pull the thermostat off the sub base. From there jump the red wire to the green wire. If the fan does not run at this point you may have a faulty indoor fan motor, fan motor capacitor, or fan motor relay. If you hear an audible click as you strap R to G then your relay is working so suspect motor/cap or its wiring as culprit. If nothing happens then check for 24VAC across these terminals.

On outdoor unit if the condenser fan is turning check for compressor operation by feeling the large line of the two (suction line) leaving the unit. It should be cold - very cold as a matter of fact with no indoor fan running. Do NOT allow it run for long though as the unit (unless it's a heatpump) will have little buffer (called a suction accumulator) and may flood back to the compressor which can damage the valves!

An AC Unit has 2 major components.

1. Fan

2. Compressor

The compressor motor kicks on and off to cool coils and grid that air blows through... The coils remove heat from the air.... You can hear this kicking on and off, so I think your fan isn't working.

Most AC units can run without the compressor in a fan only mode. If you turn this on, do you get any air? If not, this is the problem. Best thing to do is try unplugging it and plugging it back in again after turning it on. This will reset any electronics in it if it has a controller of some sort regulating stuff... Aside from that, you should consider listening to hear if the fan is trying to move and can't. If this is the case, your motor could either be in a bind or burned out.

One more thing to check is fuses. Most of these things have a control panel where the knobs or buttons reside. There may be fuses behind this panel or near where it plugs in. Some units put in extra fuse circuits for safety since the compressor could theoretically freeze up as a solid block of ice....then you could have water leaking around the unit...
