The signing of comedian and best-selling author Al Franken gave Air America a liberal drawing card. But if his three-hour show on Monday was typical, he could sink the ship instead of saving it.

Two attempts at humor were offensive. In his "oy, oy show," set to Israeli music, a sidekick reads news reports - in this case, the murder of the Russian-backed president of Chechnya. Franken's role is to pipe up with a lighthearted "oy, oy, oy." Yep, nothing tickles the ribs like assassination.

Nice. Al Franken is a moron. If a truck ran him over tomorrow, I wouldn't shed a tear.

I can't imagine why anyone would expect anything else. IMO all political talk radio tends to become rather shrill and ultimately boring.

I can't understand why anyone would be entertained by Rush Limbaugh or his ilk, when they endlessly blather on in largely scripted diatribes that, in painfully predictable fashion, always take the same side of every issue.

By the same token, Al Franken (who I consider a true wit) takes on a really tiresome, smug shrillness when he gets onto political matters - he can be quite entertaining in short doses (his performance at the National Press Club luncheon a few years ago was priceless), but the whole schtick becomes tiresome over time.

IMO Air America is an audacious idea as a check on the Rushes of the world, but I defy anyone to spend the entire day listening to any one-sided political talk radio show and not end up dumber than when they started.

No surprise here. The problem with the liberal talk shows is they come out like children with an agenda to show those conservatives up. They come off as morons and usually they dont sound very liberal. I mean would a liberal really be happy about an assasination?

I also heard they didnt pay their bills at a couple of stations and got yanked. So much for being different than the conservatives they try to portray as evil capitalists trying to get away with things.
