AIO Printer Recommendations?

Hi all, I'm currently looking to purchase an All-In-One printer. I'm looking at the ones that include "printer, copier, scanner, fax" and also supports WIFI.

Quite frankly, I don't think I've seen one printer that has great user reviews. All of them seem to have issues whether it be WIFI doesn't work as advertised, "ink chugger", blah blah blah.

So to take a little break from reading all the user reviews, I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with any of these AIO printers and/or have any suggestions or recommendations. Thank in advance!

If you don't need photo printing, look into a brother printer. They are reasonably priced, work well, and accept third-party ink without a problem. I get cheap ink at meritline.com.

Hi thank you for your suggestion. I'd say "photo" printing is probably on the bottom of the list for what I need an AIO printer for, so I will look into the Brother printers. Also cheaper/3rd party ink is definitely a plus. Is there any model in particular that's good? I'm looking at the Brother MFC-490CW right now.

The first question ask regarding all in ones printers is do you need color or can you get by with a monochrome laser?

In my case, my wife has a printer only color inkjet that I refill very economically and I bought a cheap used brother monochrome Laser all in one, specifically a MFC 7820 N that prints faxes scans and copies. We net work them together so both my wife and I can print using either printer. The combination works very well for us.

But unless you refill your own ink or can get cheap third party cartridges, you can go broke feeding those color inkjets, many of which are rip off no armed bandits. If you can get by without color, go for a monochrome laser.

For color I use a Canon mp990, has all you require and more and the ink 3rd party is about $10 to completely refill. Photo quality is great and it also scans negatives, has memory card slots and wired ethernet as well as wireless.

For only black and white I use the brother MFC7820N. You can get the cartridges for about 3 for $60 if you use non brand.

Lemon Law, thanks for that suggestion. The printer will be for my dad actually, I'll need to check with him on how much color he plans on printing.

Modelworks, I will look into that Canon. One thing though, is this one of those printers that won't allow you to print even colorless documents unless you have all the colored cartridges filled up? This is just a tad more than I originally wanted to spend, but if it'll save me in the long run then it'll be no problem!

Thanks.

I'll second that emotion.

I'm using a Brother MFC-490CW that I bought refurbed at Office Max for $50.00.

I've had software problems with other brands and really appreciate the small, simple, and easy to use Brother software.

Best price I see is $129.00 w/free ship.
