FYI....Frozen CPU is it if business, and I'm concerned Sidewinder may be as well, I haven't seen anything new on the site in quite some time and out of stock stuff doesn't seem to be getting replenished. Anyone know?

On the phone with Frozen CPU right now, have a girl checking on all the parts in the Heat Killer 3.0. Did you see my update in post 24 ?

Are you kidding? That's great news if true.....
And yes I saw it,on my phone right now so hard to do much in the way of parts research.

No, I just got off the phone with them. I called the other day to see why I couldn't order online with them and the kid said they were updating their web sight er something.. he said in a few weeks they'll be back up. I'm assuming it's because of the Adobe Flash Vulnerability

No that wasn't why. Do a search on frozen cpu closing, it was a big deal.

I imagine if the website comes back up for ordering its probably ok. Maybe use PayPal just to be safe? They were the biggest of their kind before the implosion.

The block should be fine, does it say it needs optional 1366 mounting hardware?

The lady said the Heatkiller 3.0 has all the parts. I thought I'd need this

EDIT: editing for the bold. No. You buy the specific block to your socket, you can buy a the parts for a 2011 socket. I think it's 22$

This post is about the tubing. What fittings would I use for 1/2" copper piping? I'd like to learn how to sweat pipes, I think this would be a good opportunity rather than fixing my tenants stupid drain line to the water tank, hah :D

Yeah, it appears to have 1366 mounting hardware by default from the description. I can tell you one thing I don't like about that block but it may not matter to you at all (even though I'm currently using a 45 degree fitting on mine). "Warning: Compression fittings can be used up to 1/2" OD without conflict. Larger sized compression fittings require 45° adapters!" Something to consider.

You are out of my element with the copper tubing, I'd like to go hardline myself but I don't know if I'd like the additional work involved when changing parts / upgrading.

Yeah I thought those holes looked a little close. I have 45* angle Bit power connectors with Bitspower or Danger Den 1/2" ID barbs I hope those work.

I think it would look kinda cool with copper piping. I wouldn't know how to connect them though. My Masterkleer tubing has been sitting for 4yrs and is a bit dusty.

Gettin Crzy with some Copper pipping thoughts for this setup. I think I can use regular old Home depot 1/2" ID pipes with some 1/4 Plumbers Compression fittings. If that will work I think I might try it.

Doable, but your really running it out there a bit if you've never done it before.

I was thinking it would need to have tubing by the fittings with copper for the straight lines. This way if I had to lift the case and move it the integrity of the lines would stay intact.

edit: i may be scratching this idea.. yeah I think so :(

Enjoy your new water setup and I dought you will go back to using any hsf.

I like hsf on a bench table but hate them in most cases.
My wife's 2500k is the only pc I built with hsf in over 12 years.
To keep the price down I go with 3 parts 360 rad a D5 pump and a wb.

Thanks.

You don't use a res?

I use a tee then 4 inches of tubing + tiny stainless ball valve.
Every month or so I open the valve to let water into the loop from 4 inches of tubing.
Only problem is it take a while to bleed air when first filled.
My last two res. leaked less then 6 months.

Some were I read that MCP350 style pumps run on he warm side.

Does the Heatkiller have a specific installation orientation? I know there is a specific inlet and an outlet hole but does it matter which way the block is placed on the processor?

I've had several Laing DDC style pumps. As long as you have sufficient resistance that it doesn't totally free flow they run pretty cool, actually. I always mount them in air flow if possible.

Supposedly they run hot at maximum rpm, mine are heatsink'ed and fanned so I can't tell you from experience.

I could of swore I just read they run hot WITH resistance

Too little resistance and they run too fast. You want at least 3-5 psi drop in the loop, but they can handle a lot more.

Pretty much any setup with a radiator and more than one block will work well. I have two radiators, two blocks, and a res and it runs cool, even with CPU heat dumping into it.
