AIM transfer problems

Everytime i send a file through aim i get a message that says they recieved the file but it does'nt agree with the orignal and then the file the person got is corrupt. i can send throught irc fine or i can upload to a ftp fine and i can email files fine but they are always corrupt if i send through aim. i have uninstalled and reinstalled and i have tried different versions. does anyone have any ideas?
