AIM system tray icon is blinking (with pic)

Today when I started AIM, there was some sort of sound and my system tray icon is blinking. I've restarted AIM and the noise and icon remain. Can anybody tell me what causes this?

Turn off the "Display Alert Tray Icon"

My AIM > Edit Options > Edit Preferences > Mail

Its new mail icon... everyone on AIM got an email alert. AOL wants to inform you they have a new mail service... so they activated the icon so you would visit the website and sign up for an account. *shrug*

Thanks. That thing was about to drive me insane. I've never signed up for that retarded mail service, and all of a sudden the mail icon started popping up and blinking nonstop.

I also have this problem. Started like 2 weeks ago. And when I squint, it does look like a mailbox.
