So I IM this girl for the first time and she freaks out because I am added to her recent buddies list apparently automatically...

Has anyone else heard of this? Is it a feature? A virus? What?

So am I added permanently to her list? or does it only show up briefly?

Uh... think about it. "Recent Buddies" would be buddies that she's talked to recently. It's similar to the default start menu in WinXP. If you don't use a program (read: IM someone), it won't be in the RECENT list.

It's not a virus. It's a "feature".

HAHA

Seriously... who the fvcking hell is going to write a virus who's sole purpose is to attack aim installs and make a temporary list for the current user of who they've talked to recently?

Ok, if it bothers you that much just go into buddy list manager and delete her from it. And turn off the "HAX0R V1RUS" that AOL managed to slip past your impenetrable defenses.

ROFL

For all of you fvcking asshats who jumped on me for using the word virus: there are SEVERAL viruses/worms that spread via AIM. There also used to be several lines of code you could use to alter people's buddy lists if you could get them to click on a link.

Jesus.

1) did you CLICK on a link!?
2) do you have any kind of virus scanner/script blocker?
3) did you post in the correct forum?
4) do you ever check the company's site for software upgrade information before posting on AT?
5) do you honestly think someone would write a virus to add something like this to aim?

means she or someone on her computer messaged you before and didnt add you to there/her buddylist i think. I have acouple of thoses on my list also.
