AIM question.

How do I get it so I have an away message up, but I can still IM and talk to people and they just think I'm away til I IM them? I DO NOT have the most up to date version of AIM if that matters...

I dont want Trillian. I used it and it sucks. A friend I have, a mac user, said he was doing it with just regular AIM.

Gaim is VASTLY superior to AIM and any of it's addons, IMHO. I tried Trillian once and I just didn't like it, it seemed bloated to me. Gaim looks almost exactly like AIM, but it's full of handy features. Including talking while your away message is up.

FYI, Gaim is not game friendly, for those who like to alt+tab out of games to answer IMs...

It is ad-free yes, and by default it does put a link in your profile, but it also has an option to remove that. Can't blame them for promoting and then making it optional.

Is it not? They've done a lot for stability in the last 2 or 3 releases IMHO, and they're always working on a new one. New releases are pretty frequent.

dead aim's version does not do it properly for me... it keeps spitting back my away message annoyingly....


i've also wondered why mac's version of aim is so much better.. talk while away, default logging...
