AIM problems

For some reason, I can't only transfer files across AOL Instant Messanger with certain buddies. I turn my firewall off, and enable DMZ, but it still won't work.

What could be some possible problems and solutions?

Are you behind a router? Software firewalls may not be the only thing

yes, i have a 4 port linksys router with the built in firewall. under aim prefences, i had the file transfer use port 1080 and the firewall to forward the port to my comptuer.

Is that TCP or UDP 1080?

Download the new AIM beta. No more firewall problems, unless of course, they block ports.

Well, your fine at your end but what about others? maybe their configuration isnt right. plus the fact that many do not have a live ip address.
